Energy Camp 2024

For over 25 years, Oklahoma’s rural electric cooperatives have been sending the state’s brightest middle school students to Energy Camp, and now it’s YOUR turn! Imagine spending four days of your summer swimming, hiking, and making new friends. You will improve your leadership skills and learn about one of our country’s most important industries - rural electrification.

Join us at Canyon Camp near the beautiful Red Rock Canyon just south of Hinton, OK, where you’ll experience first-hand the exciting world of rural electricity, watch safety demonstrations, climb a pole, watch a cooperative crew at work, make new friends as well as have some awesome outdoor summer fun!

To apply students will fill out an application and submit it to Kay Electric Cooperative. Judges will choose 4 students to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Energy Camp located at Canyon Camp in Hinton, Oklahoma May 28 - 31, 2024. Winners will be notified by mail before Kay Electric Cooperative’s Annual Youth Banquet. The Youth Banquet will be the evening of Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Youth Tour 2024

The annual Oklahoma Youth Tour trip is a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expenses-paid leadership opportunity available exclusively to high school juniors (seniors-to-be)who attend schools located in co-op service areas. Homeschool students also encouraged to apply. Two student will be chosen to represent Kay Electric in the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour, bringing together more than 1,800 high school students from around the country. Spend a week visiting historical sites, making new friends, and enjoying once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to meet with Oklahoma’s political representatives and learn firsthand about our local and national government, and how electric cooperatives across America are affected by today’s political decisions. Youth Tour takes place June 14 - 20, 2024.

To apply students will fill out an application and submit it to Kay Electric Cooperative. The selection process begins with review of applications and ends with face-to-face interviews for finalists by judges on the evening of Thursday, February 22, 2024 before Kay Electric Cooperative’s Annual Youth Banquet. Third and fourth place winners will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp on July 12 - 18, 2024. Fifth through eighth place winners will receive cash prizes. Winners will be announced at the banquet after interviews.
